Enough

In my work with teenagers, I am struck by how often scarcity thinking comes up – the fear of not being enough. Not pretty enough, not smart enough, not caring enough, not not not. It saddens my heart to see these young adults carrying the weight of trying to “be enough” to keep their families happy and whole. It’s a reflection of the larger scarcity worldview that impacts our society so strongly these days.

It brings to mind the wonderful Marianne Williamson quote:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.

Working with these young people offers the privilege to open their eyes to the Light they hold and the powerful impact they can have on their loved ones and the world – simply by being themselves.

We are each of us enough, just as we are – beautiful enough, smart enough, kind enough, caring enough, strong enough, loving enough, good enough.
